Consumers are spending 28% more in supermarkets during the pandemic, survey says

Financial management Startup shows an average ticket of R$ 343.98 in the payments of more than 42 thousand users

Brazilians spent more with supermarkets in 2020, mainly after the beginning of the pandemic in March. According to the personal financial management startup, Mobills, consumers registered 28% more expenses in supermarkets, between March and December 2020. 

Altogether, the survey accounted data from over 42 thousand users of the app, during the whole year of 2020, and considering December only, the expenses with food added to more than R$ 3 million. Moreover, the average ticket, in the same period, reached R$ 343.98, being July the month in which consumers spent more, outperforming in 57% the total expenses in March.
