APAS survey shows a growth of 78% in the number of job positions when compared to the same period in 2019
In spite of the pandemic scenario, supermarkets from the Ribeirão Preto region, in the state of São Paulo, hired 78% more employees in August, when compared to the same month in 2019. Altogether, 2,215 new associates hired against 1,239 hired in August 2019, according to data from the Associação Paulista de Supermercados (APAS).
Wholesale stores had the highest rate of job creation in the month of August, among all surveyed channels, with 843 hires, followed by minimarkets (654 hires) and supermarkets, on the third position with 555 new employees in August.
According to the APAS Regional Ribeirão Preto director, Rodrigo Canesin, for the coming months, supermarkets shall hire even more in order to meet the holidays’ demands. “Drivers, fulfillment associates and stockers are the positions on the rise”, he said.
