According to IBEVAR, the supermarket is one of those sectors who will grow most due to the demand for season related products
During the Brazilian summer, supermarkets nationwide are preparing themselves for the increasing demand for products related to the year’s hottest season. According to the Brazilian Institute of Retail and Consume Market Executives (Ibevar), the supermarket is one of the sectors that will present a better performance, with 0.16% of monthly growth in the first quarter of 2020.
Still according to IBEVAR, other sectors that will also have a greater demand during the summer are furniture and home appliances (0.65%), pharmacy, perfumery and cosmetics (0.42%). Among the main products that will leverage the segments cited by the Institute, the highlights are: fan (furniture and appliances); sunscreen, hair coloring, depilatories, masks for hair treatment and nail polishes (pharmacies, perfumeries and cosmetics), as well as beverages for hypermarkets and supermarkets, such as beer, soda, juice, coconut water and iced tea.
According to the president of IBEVAR, Claudio Felisoni de Angelo, this year is starting with optimism for the consumption companies with the summer boosting the sales. “After Christmas, the first quarter of 2020 presents itself as positive and projections are that hot days will increase the offering and the demand for products suitable for the period.” Mr. de Angelo explained.
