Supermarket chain’s goal is to expand online shopping product offer and increase internet sales share in 7%
Hirota supermarket chain to start offering differentiated services to its online customer. This time the company is investing in refrigerated lockers installed in large partner companies with the goal of expediting the delivery of items as food, ready-meals, and cold beverages among other products available in the online store.
This service will be available in February 2020, and the first refrigerated locker will be placed at the administrative center of Itaú bank, on the east side of São Paulo. According to Hélio Freddi, chain director of Hirota, the goal is to offer one hundred refrigerated lockers in the next two years, making the service responsible for 7% of the yearly sales.
Moreover, about 500 items sold in the Express stores of the Hirota chain will be available for delivery in the refrigerated lockers, and those interested will have to download the app in order to shop for groceries. A QR Code sent by the chain to customer via cell phone, works as the key to open the locker and collect the products, with no additional costs.
Currently, the chain counts on 40 stores in the city of São Paulo, being 24 of them in the Express store model, in addition to 16 supermarkets. The group expects to invest R$ 22 million in the next 16 months to open another 12 new stores, being 10 of them in the Express model.
