A survey by APAS and CAGED shows the best performance of the sector with supermarket and hypermarket formats standing out
Last October food retail in São Paulo was responsible for creating 3,543 job positions, the best result in 10 years. The numbers are from a survey carried out by APAS with the General Registry of the Employed and Unemployed (CAGED).
This result demonstrates the highest rate for October in 10 years, with supermarkets and hypermarkets standing out, adding up to 2,223 positions hired. In second place comes the greengroceries, with 153 new employees and an increase of 77% in relation to 2018.
Among the positions with highest adhesion in the period, stockers stand out with 1,712 new workers, along with cashiers and packers. Moreover, the holiday parties generate a higher customer and product flow, also contributing with the opening of new cash registers for services.
The capital of São Paulo is once more on the lead for new jobs created, with 612 new positions, followed by Indaiatuba, Sorocaba and Guarulhos. Considering the entire year of 2019, São Paulo and Campinas are the biggest jobs creators, and the expectations are of closing the year with 13.6 thousand positions hired, the best result since 2014.
