Together, supermarket brands reached US$ 185 billion according to the 100 most valuable brands report, carried out by Brand Finance
Considering the 100 most valuable retail brands worldwide, 37 of them are supermarkets according to the Brand Finance’s study. The Brand Finance Retail 100 2021 ranking shows that supermarket brands together, worth US$ 185.3 billion. According to the ranking, online retail companies outperformed supermarkets, having an average growth of 38% in brand value.
The method used by the consulting office in the study calculates brand value based on metrics on marketing investment, equity and business performance. Additionally, Brand Finance’s assessment also is based on original market research data, with more than 50 thousand interviews.
Amazon leads the ranking of the most valuable brands in the global retail, with a growth of 15%, according to the report; in addition, the pandemic played an essential role for the unprecedented rise on the online demand. The study indicates as well that in 2021, supermarkets increased brand value in an average of 6%. Among those with the best positions on the ranking, there are two German supermarkets: Aldi and Lidl, on 14th and 15th, respectively. See the top 15 bellow.
