Monthly Commerce Survey shows the third increase in a row for the Brazilian retail sector in 2020
Sales in Brazilian retail keep growing as data collected by IBGE show, indicating a 5.2% increase in last July when compared to June. This year had the highest index for July since 2000, when the first Monthly Commerce Survey had its first edition.
That is the third increase in a row in sales volume of the Brazilian retail sector and, before this result, the Monthly Commerce Survey has registered in last May, the record of 13.3% in sales volume increase, against 8.5% in June. However, to supermarket and hypermarket category, the survey shows a stagnation in sales in July 2020, which was the only one that did not register an increase among the eight activities analyzed.
When compared to the month of July 2019, the domestic retail increased 5.5% in 2020. In this scenario, supermarkets and hypermarkets of the country had an increase of 10%.
