Great part of consumption habits have moved into the online environment and supermarkets are part of one of the pillars of this change, which was accelerated by the pandemic. Social isolation has increased e-commerce transactions in 81% in the month of May, when compared to the same period in 2019.
ACI Worldwide presented this data along with the survey that also shows that the demand for digital platforms is fueling the development of supermarket applications. The study indicates that the monthly delivery platform, Shopper, had over 55 thousand registrations only in March 2020, when the pandemic was announced in Brazil. In addition, the average growth of online models as Supermercado Now, reaches 400% each day, since the beginning of the social isolation.
During the pandemic period, the fresh products delivery app expanded the network of partner companies and, consequently, the assortment of products available to the customer.
