Supermarket confidence Survey in the state of São Paulo registers 50% of entrepreneurs neutral in relation to the sector
Supermarket entrepreneurs from the state of São Paulo are cautious in relation to 2020. According to the Supermarket Confidence Survey in the state of São Paulo, carried out by APAS (Associação Paulista de Supermercados) last January, 50% of managers are neutral in relation to sales results, interest rates, inflation and employment in the current year.
However, in December 2019, the neutrality index registered 52% against 13% of those who were pessimist. According to the APAS’s economist, Thiago Berka, these were expected data for the beginning of the year since many entrepreneurs review their numbers after Christmas season, in addition to the 5.3% inflation.
The estimates for 2020 are an actual growth of 2.44% in relation to 2019, and an increase in the number of formal jobs of 12,000 new positions. This way, the projection is that the job inventory for 2020 will be of 558.2 thousand workers, against 546.2 thousand workers in the last year.
On the other hand, according to data from Abras (Associação Brasileira de Supermercados), 57% of supermarket sector’s entrepreneurs, are betting on sales increase during the summer, against 45% registered in the same period of 2019.
