CVA Solutions’ survey about food retail shows that product and brand variety are crucial in the customer’s evaluation
The current moment of the Brazilian economy stimulates a great part of the customers to look for lower prices and it is not different when choosing the supermarket for buying their groceries. According to the CVA Solutions’ study about the food retail in Brazil, just as good prices, regional supermarket chains are becoming stronger with the advantage of having the expertise on their customers’ needs.
Over seven thousand consumers from all over the country participated in the survey, answering questions about habits and preferences regarding supermarkets. The result showed that the models of supermarkets with low prices, which stimulates larger purchases, as well as regional supermarket chains are the favorite ones for the Brazilian consumers.
The CVA’s study also shows that the crucial points, which matters the most for Brazilians when evaluating a supermarket are product and brand variety; attractive prices; proximity and convenience of the store; product quality; and promotions. Pão de Açúcar, Zaffari and Extra hypermarket are among the main chains who stand out in the survey about item variety.
On the other hand, Assaí, Atacadão, Dia and Guanabara, are those with over 40% of positive evaluation in relation to price. Regarding the digital environment, 20% of the participants affirm to buy groceries on the internet, a 10% increase in relation to the previous edition of the study.
