APAS’s analysis shows over 2,000 new positions in food retail, with these two store models standing out, combining 476 positions altogether
Minimarkets and greengrocers stood out in July regarding the hiring of new associates for the operation. The result is part of the Associação Paulista de Supermercados (APAS) performance analysis. Only in the referred month, the whole food retail in São Paulo created 2,055 positions, being 284 in minimarkets and 192 in greengrocers.
If compared to the same month in 2018, the increase was of 468% and 433%, respectively, with supermarkets and hypermarkets leading the number of hiring in July, opening 926 new positions. According to the APAS economist, Thiago Berka, it is possible to forecast good expectations for the end of 2019, because the number of job positions created in this year’s July is 55% greater than in 2018.
Among the jobs created in these stores, attendant and packer positions stand out. In the analysis between cities, São Paulo leads with 723 positions, or 35.1% of the industry’s net job creation, in July. In the whole country, the month of July had a net job creation of 43,820 positions, making the best result in the first seven months of the year since 2014.
The Supermarket Employment Survey monitors job opportunities in the supermarket industry with data from the CAGED (General Registry of the Employed and Unemployed) and from the Labor and Employment Ministry.
