The company’s supermarkets will have food chain traceability, with the possibility of inserting data in real time
Tracking products with the help of blockchain technology is Migros’s new investment, Switzerland’s largest supermarket chain. In order to keep control over food supplying, the company has integrated the food traceability system with the primary goal of optimizing processes.
With the initiative, the chain intends to offer benefits that would add value to the brand, in addition to have more control over the supplying chain. The chain’s other goal with the investment is to have a more efficient distribution, avoiding waste.
With the system implementation, fresh food suppliers, who were able to insert traceability data via API, can now do it using an application. Initially, the project was created exclusively for intern processes between suppliers (B2B), and there is no estimate for customer access at the moment.
